Several weeks ago, Shutterstock informed its contributors that it collaborates with several projects connected with artificial intelligence. Because AI is considered as a threat to many jobs, many photographers and illustrators consider this step as an another “exciting news” which is actually bad for us. The question is if it is really so bad. I will try to find an answer for this question.

Review: Panasonic Lumix GH5 II

Panasonic Lumix GH5 II
Panasonic Lumix GH5 Mark II

I am currently testing the Panasonic Lumix GH5 II mirrorless camera for magazine. The camera was provided with three interesting lenses: Leica 12-60mm F2.8-4.0 OIS, Leica 10-25mm F1.7, and Leica 25-50mm F1.7.

The camera is quite big and heavy for a Micro Four Thirds camera. I would like a deeper grip but the handling is great overall. The thing is that the camera supports almost endless options to customize the buttons and in some cases, you may even have a specific value assigned to the button (not only the menu for colour profiles but even one specific colour profile may be assigned to a button – great for activating V-Log).

Wartburg 353 (Fine Art Print)

As I have bought Apple iPad Pro tablet with Apple Pencil, it is much easier to practice black pen drawing style. If something goes wrong, there is still a change to go back and try it again. So, I have tried. The next image I have drawn, was Wartburg 353 vehicle from Eastern Germany. You can buy the print at FineArtAmerica site. They are offering not only canvas, metal and other prints, but also many other products like pillows, bags, iPhone cases, and so on.

Škoda 120L (Fine Art Print)

I always wanted to know draw using a black pen and never really learned that. In 2014, there was a period when my effort was more significant and this is on of the drawings I have made. The old Skoda 120L eastern bloc car. Even though I am not totally happy with the result, someone was and this image has already made a sale at FineArtAmerica. That made me really happy. During that period, many other cars were drawn too, mostly the old Czech ones.

As I grew up in late 80s and 90s, there were many Eastern bloc cars on the streets when I was young. I really love to draw them, especially the Czech ones. Nevertheless, the cars from other countries were interesting for me as well and I returned to draw them after a while. This time, painting of an old Trabant 601 vehicle was my goal. The painting is set to the Neumarkt town square in the Dresden city in Eastern Germany.

Everybody knows that. A battery in a smartphone is never large enough. It is getting depleted all the time. If you are frustrated about it, you may consider a new phone case with an empty battery illustration and “I am Depleted” text. It is available at Zazzle to buy for various phones and tablets (mostly Apple iPhone, Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy).

Dettifoss Waterfall – Fine Art Photography

Iceland is a country full of majestic waterfalls. One of the most amazing ones is the Dettifoss. There are many images of this waterfall and I also have many of them where the whole Dettifoss is shown. Nevertheless, I was amazed by the rocks in the opposite side of the river which were hidden behind the water, foam and steam of the waterfall. It looks like a dream world from some fiction book. Now, the image is also available as a fine art print, so you can buy it and place it on various objects.

#BoycottShutterstock: More than 2 % of images disappeared

Two weeks ago, Shutterstock released a new commission structure which made a lot of photographers mad. And there was a reason for that. Even though some mistakenly estimated 75% drop (to almost 25 %), I was expecting around 25-35 % for majority of small and middle photographers. Now, two weeks have passed and we may start to look at the first results of commission drops and the boycott of the agency.
